The Model CV45A Carlin Valve allows for full and swift opening of fire hydrants with virtually no risk of water hammer between the hydrant and the pumper. Designed for use with a 4" (101.6 mm) Storz hydrant nozzle, this pressure-activated hydrant gate valve fully opens only when the attached 4" (101.6 mm) NST hose fully charges, giving the engine company the power to control hydrant flow from the fire scene—no batteries or radios required.
The Model CV45A Carlin Valve is made in the USA with globally sourced materials by Fyrelane USA, a Texas-based manufacturer with 40 years' experience developing products for water-based systems. This device flows water at 5 to 10% of the 4" (101.6 mm) Storz hydrant nozzle's capacity until the end of the 4" (101.6 mm) NST hose opposite the hydrant closes—with a suction inlet valve, portable distribution manifold, or an approved hose clamp—and fully pressurizes.
To ensure proper flow rates, each Carlin Valve requires calibration and testing before use in accordance with instructions from Fyrelane USA. This valve features a 4" (101.6 mm) Storz hydrant connection and a 4" (101.6 mm) Male NST hose connection with a high-strength, heat-treated A-356 aluminum body and a shock-resistant 535 aluminum-magnesium gate and bonnet.
This Carlin Valve is coated with an epoxy polyamide primer formulated for compliance with regulations limiting the use of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and for corrosion-resistance in accordance with select military specifications. The primer is protected with a high-performance red polyurethane topcoat that resists corrosion and weathering in outdoor environments.
