How do I match the correct cover plate to my Senju concealed sprinkler?
To ensure you buy the right cover plate for your Senju concealed sprinkler, you should identify the sprinkler identification number (SIN) of the sprinkler head. This 4-7-digit code that starts with “SS” is typically found on the sprinkler’s deflector. Then, consult the sprinkler's data sheet, QRFS product pages, or the QRFS QuickFinder to find a compatible cover plate model. Once you know which covers match, choose the appropriate activation temperature for the cover, which is always equal to or lower than the sprinkler's activation temperature. What tools are needed for installing Senju sprinklers?
Senju sprinklers should only be installed with one of the manufacturer's approved installation wrenches. This tool is designed to securely grip a specific sprinkler, minimizing slippage and potential damage to the frame or thermal element. Senju also provides optional cap removal tools to facilitate the removal of the protective cap from new sprinklers, as well as optional cover plate installation tools to replace those accessories. Remember: Using non-manufacturer-specific wrenches to install sprinklers violates NFPA standards and can damage the sprinkler.
When should a Senju sprinkler be replaced?
Senju sprinklers must be replaced if they show signs of corrosion, mechanical damage, leakage, heavy loading, or if they have been painted outside of the factory. NFPA 25 also requires replacement when sprinklers reach their testing interval and fail a test. This interval can vary from first testing at 50 years after installation for standard response heads to as few as testing every five years for extra-high, very extra-high, or ultra-high temperature solder-type fire sprinklers exposed to very hot environments.
