GemLock Grooved Rigid Coupling

This Grooved Rigid Coupling features a 2 in. grooved connection to be used in grooved piping, including specifically fire sprinkler piping systems, allowing for joint rigidity to promote proper water flow and fast installation. This rigid coupling is available in the following sizes:

1 in. 1-1/4 in., 1-1/2 in., 2 in., 2-1/2 in., 3 in., 4 in., 5 in., 6 in., 8 in., 10 in., 12 in.

GemLock grooved fittings provide a clean, consistent, and strong connection for optimal water flow when used with compatible products. GemLock couplings are full flow design, made of durable, high-strength ductile iron conforming to ASTM A536, with every lot metallurgically tested for compliance. Pressure Ratings of GemLock rigid couplings are tested to a maximum operating pressure of 300 PSI*.

*Please refer to datasheet for maximum working pressure – amount varies according to size. Maximum pressure includes surges and maximum end loads from all internal and external forces, to which a joint could be subject under normal working conditions. This rating provides a nominal safety factor of 1.5 times working pressure based on standard weight steel pipe. Maximum working pressure may be subjected to a one-time field test of 1.5 times the figures indicated.

GemLock Grooved Rigid Couplings Listings, Approvals, and Other Information

Each rigid coupling is made by GemLock, a New York-based manufacturer of fire sprinkler grooved pipe couplings and fittings, HVAC, plumbing and grooved tubing. All GemLock grooved piping system fittings are UL Listed and FM Approved. Refer to installations and groove specifications when assembling any grooved product. This rigid coupling provides joint rigidity for the support and hanging requirements of ANSI B31.1. Tongue and groove arrangements in housings do not permit expansion, contraction, or deflection.

All GemLock Ductile Iron Grooved fittings conform to ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12. Allowable pipe end separation is for cut groove pipe for roll groove; figures will be one-half of the values listed at time of initial pressurization. The gasket included with this product is constructed of specially compounded rubber polymers with low compressions set properties. The sealing efficiency of gaskets is such that the gasket forms an initial seal as it is stretched over the pipe ends. As the housing segments are installed, the gasket seals to create a leak-tight joint. The seal becomes even stronger from internal downward pressure on the lips of the gasket. The gasket seals under vacuum conditions up to 10inHg (-0.35 Bar). Gaskets are pre-lubricated at a minimum but should be lubed more for ease of assembly and optimal performance.
