The White-on-Red Everlux Photoluminescent Fire Hose Sign glows in the dark and does not require electricity. Each three-way sign directs occupants to the location of a fire hose using two photoluminescent symbols and backings designed to provide 180 degrees of visibility.
Each of these glow-in-the-dark fire hose signs offers:
- A minimum of 90 minutes' illumination
- Universal pictograms (symbols) representing a fire hose
- Two 5-29/32 in. x 5-29/32 in. (150 mm x 150 mm) sides combined into a single, triangle-shaped sign
Manufactured by Everlux, a world-renowned maker of safety signage, this glow-in-the-dark sign features a photoluminescent body, clear symbols, and high-contrast text. The pigment provides 90 minutes' illumination after sufficient exposure to light in accordance with ASTM-E2073, ASTM International's testing standard for photoluminescent markings.
How does this fire hose sign work?
This white-and-red sign (with pictogram) glows after sufficient exposure to light. Note, however, that the âreliable light sourceâ required by life safety codes typically can'tbe natural lighting. Every photoluminescent sign needs illumination from an external charging light to glow in accordance with their standards or listings.
Each sign enhances visibility and complies with ASTM E 2072: Standard Specification for Photoluminescent (Phosphorescent) Safety Markings. This sign will provide a minimum of 5.5 millicandelas per square meter (mcd/m²) when charged, enough light to be seen and understood from over 26 feet away.
Each sign can fully charge in 60 minutes when provided with a light source delivering:
- 54 lux (or 5 footcandles) of light
- A cool white source color (4000K)
These required levels of light may be provided byfluorescent and LED lights with a cool white color temperature. These lights are bright and typically reserved for indoor walkways and workspaces. Other types of lighting,¬ùeven very bright incandescent (traditional) bulbs or neon signs,¬ùshouldn't be used as external charging lights.
Where and how should I install this three-way fire hose sign?
This three-way photoluminescent Everlux fire hose emergency sign is designed for surface mounting on a wall. This sign is ideal for buildings with only one floor and can supplement stairwell or door signs that direct users to a hose in a multi-story building.

- Use drywall screws or other sign-mounting hardware, mounting along the sign's border as needed
