This Viking Flush Institutional Pendent Fire Sprinkler is a standard coverage flush pendent sprinkler, activating at 165F (73C) with a 5.6 K-Factor, and is rated for Light and Ordinary Hazard occupancies. Each pendent head features heat-sensitive fusible link assembly, standard 1/2 in. NPT threads, and a brass frame with copper deflector.

This is a quick response, standard coverage, institutional sprinkler with a maximum working water pressure of 175 PSI. The VK426 Institutional Sprinkler features a tamper-resistant design, making it a safe and effective choice for use with concealed piping in various institutional mental health occupancies, correctional facilities, or other settings where flush, tamper-resistant sprinklers may be required.

Using a heat-activated fusible link assembly, this automatic fire sprinkler opens when ambient temperatures reach 165F (73C), drenching the area surrounding a fire to keep it in its place of origin. The VK426 is installed flush using one of Viking’s 3 in. or 4 in. escutcheon plates, leaving exposed only a small portion of the fusible link assembly to ensure the timely activation of the fire sprinkler. Refer to the datasheet for listings and approvals in specific temperatures and/or applications.

The Viking Institutional Pendent Sprinkler VK426 is designed for NFPA 13. Apply the listed areas of coverage and minimum water supply requirements as shown in the Approval Chart on Page 8 of the datasheet. This pendent sprinkler head has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI (12.1 BAR) and connects to fixed fire protection systems (wet, dry, deluge, or pre-action systems).

Viking Institutional (VK426) QR Pendent Sprinkler Installation and Other Information

During installation be aware that over tightening will cause permanent damage to the 1/2 in. NPT threads and/or the fire sprinklers themselves. Use the manufacturer approved installation wrench and tighten to a maximum torque of 14 ft-lb (19 N-m). Refer to the data sheet for additional installation and storage information.

This Institutional Pendent sprinkler features a Chrome finish and a 165F (68C) temperature.
Available finishes include Chrome, White, and Grey. Temperature options include 165F (68C) and 205F (79C).
