This Viking Institutional Horizontal Sidewall Fire Sprinkler is a standard coverage, flush horizontal sidewall sprinkler, activating at 205F (96C) with a 5.6 K-Factor, and is rated for Light and Ordinary Hazard occupancies.  Each Horizontal Sidewall head features heat-sensitive fusible link assembly, standard 1/2 in. NPT threads, and a brass frame with copper deflector.

This is a quick response, or standard response (FM Approved SR Only), standard coverage, institutional sprinkler with a maximum working water pressure of 175 PSI. The VK427 Institutional Sprinkler features a tamper-resistant design, making it a safe and effective choice for use with concealed piping in various institutional mental health occupancies, correctional facilities, or other settings where flush, tamper-resistant sprinklers may be required.

Using a heat-activated fusible link assembly, this automatic fire sprinkler opens when ambient temperatures reach 205F (96C), drenching the area surrounding a fire to keep it in its place of origin. The VK427 is installed flush using one of Viking’s 3 in. or 4 in. escutcheon plates, leaving exposed only a small portion of the fusible link assembly to ensure the timely activation of the fire sprinkler. Refer to the manufacturer data sheet for installation instructions with the approved Viking escutcheon(s).

Refer to the datasheet for listings and approvals in specific temperatures and/or applications.

The Viking Institutional Horizontal Sidewall Sprinkler VK427 is designed for NFPA 13. Apply the listed areas of coverage and minimum water supply requirements as shown in the Approval Chart on Page 8 of the datasheet. This Horizontal Sidewall sprinkler head has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI (12.1 BAR) and connects to fixed fire protection systems (wet, dry, deluge, or pre-action systems).

Viking Institutional (VK427) QR Horizontal Sidewall Sprinkler Installation and Other Information

During installation be aware that over tightening will cause permanent damage to the 1/2 in. NPT threads and/or the fire sprinklers themselves. Use the manufacturer approved installation wrench and tighten to a maximum torque of 14 ft-lb (19 N-m). Refer to the data sheet for additional installation and storage information.

This Institutional Horizontal Sidewall sprinkler features a Grey finish and a 205F (96C) temperature.
Available finishes include Chrome, White, and Grey. Temperature options include 165F (73C) and 205F (96C).
