MECH™ Grooved Butterfly Valve with Tamper Switch
The MECH™ Butterfly Valve with tamper switch is a control valve designed for fire protection water service, where reliable shutoff and clear supervisory indication are required. In sprinkler and standpipe piping, a butterfly valve is commonly used to isolate sections for testing, maintenance, or emergency control, and a supervised valve helps reduce the risk of a valve being left partially closed without anyone knowing. This model includes an integrated tamper (supervisory) switch intended to connect to a fire alarm supervisory circuit, providing valve-position monitoring so that off-normal conditions can be signaled to the system when the valve is not in its normal operating position. The valve is constructed with a rugged ASTM A536, 65-45-12 Ductile Iron body for strength and long service life, and it features a high-visibility Red finish to support identification in mechanical rooms and riser assemblies.
The valve uses a Grooved connection type, supporting common grooved-coupling installation practices used throughout fire sprinkler piping. It is rated for a maximum working water pressure of 300 PSI and is intended to operate within a rated working temperature range of 32F to 176F (0C to 80C), aligning with typical above-freezing fire protection water supply conditions.
