MECH™ H84X Grooved Resilient Swing Check Valve
The MECH™ Check Valve is a grooved resilient swing check valve intended for fire sprinkler system service, where reliable one-direction flow is an important part of overall system performance. In fire protection piping, reverse flow can contribute to unwanted drainage, shifting pressures, and added stress on connected components. A swing check valve helps address this by using a hinged clapper that opens under forward flow and closes when flow stops or begins to reverse, helping limit backflow and supporting more stable system operation during routine conditions, inspection activity, and testing. This valve is manufactured with a durable ASTM A536, 65-45-12 Ductile Iron body to support strength and long service life in demanding water-service environments, and it is supplied with a high-visibility Red finish to support identification in risers, valve assemblies, and mechanical room installations.
This valve uses a Grooved connection type, supporting common grooved-coupling layouts used throughout fire sprinkler piping. It is rated for a maximum working water pressure of 300 PSI and is intended to operate within a rated working temperature range of 32F to 176F (0C to 80C), aligning with typical above-freezing fire protection water supply conditions. The “resilient” swing check design incorporates an elastomeric sealing element to help provide a tight seal when the clapper returns to the closed position, supporting dependable non-return performance when backpressure is present. The H84X family is also commonly specified where system designers want a straightforward, automatic check valve function paired with the installation efficiency of grooved ends.
The valve family is offered across multiple system sizes while maintaining the same core attributes—ductile iron construction, grooved ends, a 300 PSI working-pressure rating, the listed temperature range, and a Red exterior finish—supporting consistent specification across a range of fire protection system layouts. This valve is UL Listed and FM Approved, supporting use where those listings are required as part of project documentation and system design.
