Viking™ J-1 Alarm Check Valve (Loose Trim, Vertical Trim)
The Viking™ J-1 Alarm Check Valve (Loose Trim) is a dependable alarm check valve designed for wet pipe fire sprinkler systems and intended for vertical installation. Its purpose is to prevent reverse water flow while also initiating alarm operation when sprinkler flow occurs. It is made of Brass and has an 4 in. NPT Flange x Grooved connection. It's finish is red. During a fire event, the valve opens to allow water to move into the sprinkler system and simultaneously supplies water/pressure to alarm lines to trigger connected alarm devices, providing both fire suppression support and rapid notification.
This Loose Trim configuration is supplied as an unassembled trim package in the box rather than pre-piped on the valve, and the valve is provided without switches (pressure/alarm switches must be ordered separately). The trim must be installed exactly as shown in the manufacturer’s trim arrangement, and all trim components used must be listed for a maximum working water pressure of 300 psi (20.7 bar). A water motor alarm configuration requires a strainer, and for variable pressure water supplies, a retard chamber is required (order separately). The trim also includes provisions for a non-interruptible pressure switch connection intended only for constant-pressure systems; that alarm port cannot be shut off until flow ceases, and a retard chamber may not be installed on that specific non-interruptible port.
The J-1 Alarm Check Valve is rated for a maximum working water pressure of 300 psi and uses Flanged x Grooved connections to support common installation practices. The trim package includes 300 psi pressure gauges, with optional higher-range gauges available where system pressure warrants, supporting proper inspection and testing practices.
