Overview

Reliable™ R3135 Horizontal Sidewall Sprinkler | Quick Response (QR) | 5.6K | Chrome | 165°F | Part No. GFRHC

The Reliable™ Model GFR horizontal sidewall fire sprinkler (SIN R3135) is a quick response, standard spray sprinkler designed for dependable fire protection in approved light and ordinary hazard applications where sidewall mounting is required. Part number GFRHC combines a 5.6 K-factor (80 metric) with a 165°F (74°C) temperature rating and a chrome-plated finish, providing a clean, corrosion-resistant appearance that works well in exposed installations, finished interiors, and areas where aesthetics matter.

This horizontal sidewall sprinkler is engineered to mount along walls or structural members and project water outward and downward in a quarter-spherical distribution pattern, helping cover the area below and in front of the sprinkler when installed to the proper spacing, location, and obstruction criteria. When a fire raises the local ambient temperature to the sprinkler’s rated operating point, the heat-responsive glass bulb operates, releasing the sealing assembly so water can flow through the orifice and strike the deflector for fast, uniform standard spray distribution. Because it is quick response, this sprinkler is intended to react more rapidly to developing heat conditions than standard response sprinklers, supporting earlier water application where permitted by the system design.

The GFRHC installs using a 1/2 in. NPT connection and is intended for use in wet-pipe sprinkler systems when installed in accordance with applicable codes, NFPA standards, and the authority having jurisdiction, along with the sprinkler’s applicable listings and installation limitations. Sidewall sprinklers have specific placement requirements compared to pendent and upright styles, so correct positioning is important to achieve the intended discharge pattern and room coverage.

For best performance and long-term reliability, handle sprinklers carefully and keep them in original packaging until installation. Avoid impact to the glass bulb and frame, and do not install any sprinkler that has been dropped, shows visible damage, corrosion, leakage, or has been field-painted. Use the manufacturer-recommended sprinkler wrench during installation and apply only the torque necessary to achieve a leak-tight seal, since over-tightening can damage threads or sealing surfaces. After installation, keep the sprinkler and deflector free of paint, dust buildup, grease, or other contamination that could interfere with discharge. Inspection, testing, and maintenance should follow NFPA 25 and local requirements, and any sprinkler that has operated or is suspected of damage should be replaced with the correct matching type, temperature rating, finish, and K-factor.
