Ashcroft DG25 Digital 2-1/2 in. Air/Water Pressure Gauge
This Ashcroft DG25 Digital 2-1/2 in. Air/Water Pressure Gauge is designed to test and deliver .5% accurate pressure ratings in a range of -30-300 PSI in wet and/or dry-pipe fire sprinkler system components and other water and/or dry-based systems. This gauge has a 1/4 in. NPT connection that threads quickly to fire sprinkler system trim to detect pressure measurements. This fully digital gauge features 9 total units of measurement, including PSI, kPa, BAR, and more. With a stainless-steel sensor and a weather-resistant durable plastic casing, this durable gauge is available can be used in water or dry based systems or for testing.
Why Do I Need a Water Pressure Gauge?
Water pressure gauges are essential components for monitoring the water supply and ensuring that adequate pressure is maintained to effectively operate the sprinkler system.
During normal operation, the water gauge provides a visual indication of the water pressure in the system. It allows the building owners, maintenance personnel, or fire safety professionals to verify that the pressure is within the desired range for proper sprinkler system functionality. Adequate pressure ensures that water will be discharged from the sprinkler heads when activated, effectively suppressing, or controlling a fire.
Regular monitoring of the water gauge is important to identify any abnormal fluctuations or drops in pressure, which could indicate potential issues such as leaks, valve malfunctions, or water supply problems. If the water gauge shows an abnormal reading, it should be investigated and addressed promptly to maintain the reliability of the fire sprinkler system.
Why Do I Need an Air Pressure Gauge?
In a dry pipe fire sprinkler system, air gauges play a crucial role in monitoring the air pressure within the system. Unlike wet pipe systems where water is constantly present in the pipes, dry pipe systems contain pressurized air that holds back the water until a sprinkler head is activated. Air gauges are used to measure and display the air pressure within the system.

Regular monitoring of the air gauge is important to identify any abnormal fluctuations or drops in pressure, which could indicate potential issues such as leaks and valve malfunctions. Conversely, if the air pressure is too high, it may trigger a false activation of the sprinkler heads or put unnecessary strain on the system. If the air gauge shows an abnormal reading, it should be investigated and addressed promptly to maintain the reliability of the fire sprinkler system.
Why Do I Need a Gauge for Testing?
Gauges for water-based system testing in fire protection typically refer to pressure gauges used to measure and monitor water pressure during testing and commissioning of fire sprinkler systems or other water-based fire protection systems, including flow testing, hydrant flow testing, and testing using a pitot kit. These gauges are designed to withstand the pressure and provide accurate readings for testing purposes.
During water-based system testing, these gauges are connected at strategic points to measure water pressure and verify if the system is operating within the required specifications. They assist in assessing the system's performance, identifying any deficiencies or abnormalities, and making necessary adjustments to ensure the proper functioning of fire protection systems.
