Safe Signal™ T-Tap Waterflow Detector Residential Flow Switch
This Safe Signal™ T-Tap Waterflow Detector, also known as a Flow Switch, Water Flow Switch, or Sprinkler Flow Switch, is a device used in residential fire protection pipe systems and branch line signaling to monitor and detect the flow of water. This detector is installed in pipe systems so water will flow past it, activating the switch to signal to a control panel or alarm system, that the fire sprinkler system may be activating. In some cases, false alarms happen, and this product features a timer dial that allows for a set delayed reaction to ensure that water is steadily flowing through the switch.
Along with signaling for water-flow, this detector verifies that water is flowing when it is supposed to, and if the switch doesn’t activate when a known fire event is taking place, it indicates a potential issue in the system or a closed valve. These flow switches are critical in fire protection systems, and many building codes and regulations require their installation. This Waterflow Detector fit any tee that has a 1 in. NPT branch, including 1 in., 1-1/4 in., 1-1/2 in., and 2 in. NPT threaded ferrous and brass tees; 1 in., 1-1/4 in., 1-1/2 in., and 2 in. copper sweat tees; and Tyco™, Spears, NIBBCO brand 1 in. CPVC tees.
This Safe Signal™ detector consists of a rugged, NEMA 4-rated enclosure that is more damage resistant than other designs. Featuring a corrosion resistant lightweight cover with tamper-resistant cover screws, it has a sealed retard mechanism immune to dust and other contaminants. It is designed for indoor and outdoor use and can be installed vertically or horizontally. With an operating temperature range of 32-150F, these switches are UL Listed and FM Approved. 375 PSI Maximum Pressure rating & a triggering threshold (flow rate) of 4-10 Gallons Per Minute (GPM). This switch has two 1/2 in. conduit entrances, a contact rating of 10A 125/250VAC; 2.5A 6/12/24VDC, and a maximum surge of 18 Feet Per Second (FPS). This detector is UL Listed and FM Approved.
