This Viking™ VK538 Mirage ELO (Extra-Large Orifice) EC/QREC Concealed Pendent Fire Sprinkler is a Quick Response or Standard Response, Extended Coverage Concealed Pendent fire sprinkler head, activating at 200F (93C) with a 11.2 K-Factor, and is rated for Ordinary(Group II) occupancies. Each Concealed Pendent head features a heat-sensitive fusible link assembly, standard 3/4 in. NPT threads, and a brass frame with a bronze deflector.
The Viking™ Mirage ELO VK538 is a glass-bulb sprinkler designed for concealed pipe systems, ideal for areas where a smooth ceiling appearance is preferred. With a K-factor of 11.2, the sprinkler produces flows required to meet Ordinary Hazard density requirements at lower pressures than 5.6K or 8.0K sprinklers. The VK538 is cULus listed for both standard and quick response applications.
VK538 includes a pre-assembled threaded adapter for easy installation of a low-profile cover plate with up to 1/2” (13 mm) vertical adjustment. The two-piece design allows for sprinkler installation and testing before attaching the cover plate. The Viking™ Quick Response Extra-Large Orifice Sprinkler delivers higher water flow at lower pressures compared to standard or large orifice sprinklers, making it ideal for areas with limited water pressure. This design may reduce or eliminate the need for a fire pump. In existing systems, upgrading to extra-large orifice sprinklers can provide the increased water density needed to support higher hazard classifications.
This is a Quick Response, Extended Coverage Concealed Pendent sprinkler with a maximum working water pressure of 175 PSI (12 BAR). The VK538 Mirage ELO Sprinkler pairs reliable fire protection with a clean, flush profile. Using a heat-activated fusible link assembly, this automatic fire sprinkler opens when ambient temperatures reach the sprinkler’s listed activation temperature, drenching the area surrounding a fire to keep it in its place of origin.

Viking™ (VK538) Mirage ELO Concealed Pendent Sprinkler Installation and Other Information
The VK538 Concealed Pendent Sprinkler is recessed in the Concealed Pendent orientation. Refer to the manufacturer data sheet for installation instructions with the approved Viking™ cover plates and accessories. During installation be aware that over tightening will cause permanent damage to the 3/4 in. NPT threads and/or the fire sprinklers themselves. Use the manufacturer approved installation wrench and tighten to a maximum torque of 20 ft-lb (27.1 N-m). Refer to the data sheet for additional installation and storage information.
