How the Victaulic Alarm Check Valve Works

In normal operation, the internal clapper remains closed to stop water from flowing backward into the supply line. When a sprinkler activates and water flows forward, the clapper opens to allow system operation. At the same time, the valve’s trim directs a portion of water to the alarm line, which can be connected to a hydraulic water motor gong or an electrical pressure switch (sold separately). This feature provides immediate waterflow notification, a critical requirement for UL Listed and FM Approved fire sprinkler systems.

Installation and Maintenance

The Series 751 is engineered for vertical installations with upward flow through the valve. Its grooved end connections make it quick to install using standard couplings, reducing labor compared to flanged or threaded options.
