Overview

Tyco AV-1-300 Alarm Check Valve | 4 in. Groove x Groove | Ductile Iron | 300 PSI

The Tyco AV-1-300 Alarm Check Valve is built for use in wet pipe fire sprinkler systems and combines backflow prevention with reliable alarm activation. This model features 4-inch grooved connections on both the inlet and outlet, allowing for quick installation using grooved couplings. With a ductile iron body and a maximum working pressure of 300 PSI, this valve is designed for performance and durability in demanding commercial and industrial fire protection systems.

In normal system conditions, the valve clapper remains closed to prevent reverse water flow. When a sprinkler activates and water begins to flow forward, the clapper opens, allowing water to enter the system. At the same time, a portion of the water is routed through the internal bypass trim to activate a hydraulic alarm bell or pressure switch (not included). This dual functionality helps meet NFPA 13 requirements for wet systems by providing both one-way flow and system activation signaling.

The AV-1-300 is suitable for both horizontal and vertical installations. When mounted horizontally, the drain port must face downward. For vertical installations, water must flow upward through the valve. This flexibility allows the valve to integrate easily into new or existing riser configurations.

All auxiliary connections included in the valve’s trim—such as the alarm port, test valve, and drain line—are NPT threaded. This ensures compatibility with standard fire protection components and simplifies field installation. The internal components can be accessed without removing the valve from the piping system, allowing for faster and easier inspection and maintenance.
