With a ductile iron body and a 300 PSI maximum working pressure rating, this valve is engineered for reliable operation in large commercial, industrial, and institutional fire protection systems.

As a core component in wet pipe systems, the AV-1-300 serves two essential functions: it prevents backflow into the water supply and activates a waterflow alarm when system demand occurs. During activation, the valve's clapper opens to allow water through. Simultaneously, a portion of the flow is routed through the valve’s internal trim to power a hydraulic bell or pressure switch (not included), providing an audible or monitored signal that the system is discharging.

The valve can be installed horizontally or vertically, offering flexibility during system design and installation. When mounted horizontally, the drain must point downward. For vertical installations, flow direction must be upward through the valve body. These options allow the AV-1-300 to integrate easily into various riser configurations while remaining compliant with NFPA 13 standards.

All auxiliary connections included in the trim—such as the alarm port, test valve, and drain—are NPT threaded. This ensures compatibility with standard fire protection system components. Internal clapper components and trim are accessible for service without removing the valve from installed piping, helping to minimize system downtime during maintenance or inspection.
