This 6-inch model features a flanged inlet and a grooved outlet, offering versatility for systems that transition from rigid flanged pipe to grooved couplings. During normal conditions, the valve's clapper remains closed to block backflow from the system side. When a sprinkler activates and water flows forward, the clapper opens. Some of this water is routed through the valve’s built-in bypass trim, which can be connected to a hydraulic alarm bell or pressure switch (not included) to signal an alarm condition.

This valve supports both horizontal and vertical installation. When installed horizontally, the drain must face downward. In vertical configurations, water must flow upward. This flexible installation orientation allows it to fit a wide range of system layouts while remaining compliant with NFPA 13 standards.

The trim assembly includes connections for an alarm line, test valve, and drain—all of which are NPT threaded for compatibility with standard fire protection fittings. Maintenance is simplified, as the valve’s internal components can be accessed without removing the valve body from the piping system.
